"The enactment of the Consumer
Credit Act 2025 is an important step in the Government's reform agenda to
strengthen consumer protection in the financial sector. Malaysia has for the
first time witnessed comprehensive legislation specifically focused on the
regulation of consumer credit outside the banking sector, thereby strengthening
and improving the landscape of the nation's consumer credit industry",
said Encik Abu Hassan.
"With the appointment of this first
leadership line-up, that combines diverse expertise, experience, and
professionalism, SKP is now ready to implement its mandate under the Consumer
Credit Act 2025. This diversity creates synergy that enables SKP to act in a
cohesive manner, ensuring that lending practices are carried out transparently,
fairly, and responsibly, thereby protecting the interests of the credit
consumers."
SKP is committed in its role to ensure
that the nation's consumer credit ecosystem develops in a responsible,
healthier and sustainable manner, while strengthening consumer confidence in
Malaysia’s credit industry.
